Kerala has a rich culture. Kerala had been ruled by many kingdoms. Even though Kerala is much smaller in size compared to rest of the sates in India, Kerala maintains and flourishes a rich culture of its own which has unique cousins, dance forms and art forms. There are some families which still follows these traditions religiously.

We will visit two families in Kerala where you will find the authentic Kerala culture practiced. This helps you to appreciate the richness of Kerala culture.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival at Cochin

We will receive you at Cochin International Airport and will transfer you to Vellinezhi. The journey will take around 5 hours. Vellinezhi is a traditional Kerala village where most of the people are farmers. You will be welcomed to a 300 year old ancestral house of old feudal landlords of yesteryears.

By evening, the host will walk you through this ancestral home and explain the history of family.

Day 2Knowing the local community

There are many activities lined up for the day. After having a traditional Keralan vegetarian breakfast, we will visit the house Mr. Ramnakutty who hand makes the Kathakali accessories. This would be a new experience for the travelers.
We can also visit the weaver’s village where they hand weavetraditional Kerala sarees. Also, met Mr. Krishnakumar who makes metal mirrors. By evening, you may visit River Kunthi, the second largest river in Kerala. You can spent some time on the beautiful banks of the river.

You can book “Kalamezhuthu pattu” and see the live performance inside the homestay during late evenings.

Day 3Long drive to Aleppey

Say good bye to the most beautiful souls and head to Aleppey to be the guests of an ancient Syrian Catholic family on the banks of river Pamba.

Relax at the resort and enjoy the breeze from the river.

Day 4Local sightseeing

Enjoy the sumptuous Kerala breakfast and visit the local Catholic Church. You can visit the church that is around 900 years old. You are also free to explore the narrow canals of Aleppey on a country boat and this cruise gives you an opportunity to see the ever lively village life on the shores. You can see workers working in the coconut plantations, paddy fields and fishermen catching their daily fish!

Day 5Cochin Sightseeing and Departure

Enjoy the breakfast and proceed to visit Fort Cochin and Mattanchery where you can still find the old world charm which British & Portuguese have left. Santa Cruz Basilica, St. Francis Church, Mattanchery palace and many more interesting place for a history enthusiastic. Chinese fishing net is a must visit and you can try to operate along with the local fishermen. That would be an ever memorable experience. We will drop you at Cochin International Airport for your departure and we are sure you are going back with a bag full of happy memories!
